TIMELESS GRACE. ENDURING GREATNESS.
In the early 1900s, Cincinnati businessman Clifford Greene—seeking to build a magnificent home for his family—selected a pristine spot at the top of Handasyde Court. Greene was a cofounder—along with Cincinnati notables Thomas Pogue, James Forbes, and Henry and Louis Wessel—of the Cincinnati Ball Crank Company, which made handwheels and cranks for the machine tool industry worldwide.
For his palatial family home, Greene turned to the architectural firm of Tietig & Lee—esteemed Cincinnati architects from 1902-1956 who were celebrated for their artistic adaptation of style to setting. In 1915, Greene’s impressive home was completed to much fanfare and widespread admiration.
Over the decades, the home changed hands—homeowners included Edward C. Orr and his wife Eleanor. Orr was president from 1953-58 of the Potter Shoe Company, fondly remembered by Queen City families as “the” place for children’s shoes.
In 2013—just shy of its centennial—this much-loved home underwent an impressive, and massive “down to the studs” renovation—with about 95 percent of the home modernized for its next century. Inspired remodeling added luxury amenities, such as a gourmet eat-in kitchen and heated floors in the kitchen and bathrooms, while respecting and retaining the home’s original character and grace. About a year later, the grounds underwent momentous change, with the addition of a striking swimming pool, stunning outdoor living spaces, and sensational landscaping. A covered outdoor terrace with ceiling fans and six heaters was added, providing expanded living space about 10 months of the year. Alongside the terrace stands a trellised patio with a magnificent outdoor fireplace. Truck loads of dirt were brought in to level the two-tiered back yard.
With an acre of land, private setting, golf course views, unparalleled outdoor living, magnificently renovated home, and  cherished history, 2515 Handasyde Court is a standout in Hyde Park, and a home unlike any other.
